The Key Lab of Cryptographic Technology and Information Security was planned in 2005, and officially approved by Ministry of Education in 2007. It aims to become a high level base for studying the theoretical foundations of cryptography and information security technology, and training excellent researchers. There are four research fields:  theory of cryptology, application of cryptography and security techniques, secure computation of number theory and algebra, and security of network and system.
The laboratory has undertaken the National 973 Project, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Key Project, and the National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars Project.
